Support, stabilization, and compassion. That’s what community members can expect when they visit the Health Solutions Acute Treatment Unit (ATU) and Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) at Health Solutions.
Both resources, located at 1302 Chinook Lane in Pueblo, offer services to those who are experiencing psychiatric conditions.
Curious about the differences in care? Check out the ways the ATU and CSU support clients in need.
Acute Treatment Unit
The Acute Treatment Unit (ATU) is an 11-bed inpatient facility for individuals 18 years of age or older who are in an emotional crisis or have a psychiatric need. Individuals are referred to the ATU from the Health Solutions Crisis Services Program.
The ATU provides a safe and secure environment for clients who do not require hospitalization.
Staff can work more closely with each client, providing group therapies including mindfulness exercises, distress tolerance techniques, interpersonal effectiveness skills, and emotional regulation strategies.
While in the ATU, clients are offered individual and family collaborations with staff to create a treatment plan that includes medication evaluation and management if needed. This treatment plan is updated throughout their stay.
Crisis Stabilization Unit
The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is a four-bed facility that offers support and stabilization in a comfortable, low-pressure environment. The facility, housed within the Acute Treatment Unit (ATU), provides short-term care for those who need help managing psychiatric conditions but who do not require hospitalization or ATU care.
Clients may be referred to the CSU by community partners, self-referrals, and the Health Solutions Crisis Services Program.
Regardless of our clients’ needs, we’re here to offer support in a safe setting.
ATU and CSU Staff
When clients visit the ATU or CSU, they are greeted by professionals dedicated to compassionate care.
The ATU and CSU are staffed by bachelor-level healthcare specialists, culinary aides, master-level clinical staff, a psychologist, nurses, and a psychiatric prescriber who is licensed to provide psychiatric services.
Length of Stay
The average stay at the ATU or CSU is around four to seven days. Length may vary as care is tailored to the individual needs of each client. Individuals are provided with:
- Meals and snacks throughout the day
- Hygiene necessities
- A laundry facility
- Journals with writing materials
Upon admission, the ATU and CSU team works with the client to determine what community resources they may benefit from. This often includes ongoing physical and mental health care.
Family involvement is encouraged, and with the client’s and provider’s permission, the family will be consulted about their loved one’s recommended follow-up services.
In moments of need, families can rely on the ATU and CSU for care. Would you like more information? Call us at (719) 545-2746.
