Health Solutions CEO Jason Chippeaux often compares mental health to chocolate milk.
“Folks always want to talk about physical health or behavioral health when it comes to wellness, and they do that kind of categorically,” he said. “And it’s actually a lot more like chocolate milk … Which part is the chocolate and which part is the milk? Well, who knows? And could you separate those? Probably not.”
Chippeaux discussed the mind-body connection and more in a discussion on the first episode of Talking Health with Health Solutions, a new podcast produced by Health Solutions.
The podcast, which will release new episodes bi-weekly on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts, is hosted by Melissa Ayala, Director of the Health Solutions Acute Treatment Unit, and Nanci Gonzalez, Colorado National Collaborative Coordinator.
Talking Health with Health Solutions is southern Colorado’s newest source of in-depth discussions about mental and physical health in our region and beyond. As the season progresses, the team will discuss topics ranging from early childhood education to primary care with clinicians, physicians, health leaders, and more.
In the first episode, Chippeaux discusses the origins of Health Solutions more than 60 years ago, how to access services, and the organization’s commitment to whole-person healthcare.
“We want to treat people, not categories,” he said. “It doesn’t mean we do everything, but we understand, at the big picture level, that there is an integration that is likely multi-faceted and multi-dimensional, and we try to orient our treatment approach to that.”
